The Fruity Freida Phonics Program is designed particularly for a mixed class of English and Spanish speaking children, where learning to read in English is one of the primary goals. Although the focus is to teach letter sounds in a way that will not be confusing to NEP and LEP children, there is an emphasis on the acquisition of vocabulary in both languages.

Matching and Cut & Paste activities reinforce the integration of sound and symbol. Categorizing skills have an integral place in this curriculum and insure that children master the acquisition of beginning sounds and vocabulary.
